چکیده

Hybrid steel and concrete seismic-resistant systems made by frames with reinforced infill walls (SRCWs) have potential advantages over structural solutions only or (RC). In fact, the high initial stiffness of is useful to minimize damage non-structural elements under frequent (low moderate) earthquakes while ductility dissipative capacity allow good performances rare (high-intensity) events. Eurocode 8 considers SRCW behave essentially as RC walls. However, numerical analyses on SRCWs, designed according Eurocodes, pointed out an unsatisfactory seismic behaviour discrepancies between assumed in design simulated response actions. Indeed, idea stiffening a frame leads complex mechanisms that are difficult control being affected many variables. this study, some recent developments for innovative transferred hybrid partially-prefabricated infills. Numerical models analysed understand global considered SRCWs provide preliminary validation proposed solution.

OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE-BASED SEISMIC DESIGN OF COMPOSITE BUILDING FRAMES WITH RC COLUMNS AND STEEL BEAMS

Composite RCS building frames integrate reinforced concrete columns with structural steel beams to provide an efficient solution for the design and construction of earthquake-resisting structures. In this paper, an optimization framework is developed for performance-based seismic design of planar RCS moment resisting frames. The objective functions are defined as minimizing the construction cos...

seismic upgrading of non-ductile steel frames using steel plate shear walls

many old damaged and undamaged building structures do not meet the criteria of modern seismic design codes. such structures need to be seismically enhanced. the main objective of this paper is to propose and validate the effectiveness of an upgrade scheme for non-seismic buildings using steel plate shear walls (spsw). the upgrade is carried out considering a probability-based drift-based criter...

ERFORMANCE-BASED SEISMIC DESIGN OPTIMIZATION OF COMPOSITE MOMENT RESISTING FRAMES WITH CONCERETFILLED STEEL COLUMNS AND STEEL BEAMS

In this paper, an optimization framework is developed for performance-based seismic design of composite moment frames consisting of concrete filled steel box columns and I-shaped steel beams. Material cost of the structure and seismic damage under severe earthquake ground motions are minimized as objective functions. Two design examples are presented to demonstrate the applicability and efficie...

PERFORMANCE BASED DESIGN OPTIMIZATION OF STEEL MOMENT RESISTING FRAMES INCORPORATING SEISMIC DEMAND AND CONNECTION PARAMETERS UNCERTAINTIES

One of the most important problems discussed recently in structural engineering is the structural reliability analysis considering uncertainties. To have an efficient optimization process for designing a safe structure, firstly it is required to study the effects of uncertainties on the seismic performance of structure and then incorporate these effects on the optimization process. In this stud...
